Lorie A. “George” McCallister, 51, Marion, lifelong resident of Grant County, passed away at 11:15 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on Friday, February 9, 2018.  She was born in Marion on June 23, 1966, to Charles Ritter and Deborah Alton.  On August 9, 1991, she married John D. McCallister, and he survives.

Lorie graduated from Marion High School in 1985 and had been employed as the manager of Cash Advance and Subway, as well as the manager of concessions at Splash House.

Some of Lorie’s favorite hobbies were camping, fishing, reading, and going to car shows, especially the Ducktail Run.  Those who knew Lorie will remember her as the type of individual who never put herself first.  She was a loving caregiver who had a heart of gold.  Her family was her world, and she never missed the opportunity to attend the sporting events of her children and grandchildren.  Lorie was always very supportive of her family and those she met in life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, John; father, Charles L. (Grace) Ritter; mother, Deborah S. (Ken) Alton; father- and mother-in-law, John C. (Suzy A.) McCallister; children, Shaun (Elizabeth) Carrico, Megan Clark, Charles McCallister, Breanna Rennaker, and Chrissy McCallister; grandchildren, Elise, Henry, Alexis, Dylan, Kayden, Mackenzie, Kya, Braydn, Olivia, Gabriel, Adylyn, Bristol and Skye; many neighborhood children whom she raised and was a great mother figure to; brothers, Charles (Deanna) Ritter, Danny (Buffy) VanDiver, and Ace Dollar; sisters, Jami VanDiver, Kaneta (Ed) Purvis, Betty (James) Ritter, Rose (Lupe) Cadena, Stacie Dollar, and Beth (Jason) Hodupp; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her dogs, Ralph and Roxie.

Lorie’s son, Michael McCallister, preceded her in death.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Lorie’s memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Memorial contributions may be directed to American Lung Association, 115 W. Washington St., Ste. 1180-S, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
