At age 28, she found herself as a single mom with a young daughter and a ten-month-old baby son to raise on her own. A year later, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Needless to say, she just couldn't catch a break. For the past 16 years, she has bravely battled MS as it continued to take a toll on her body. After suffering two heart attacks earlier this past summer along with congestive heart failure, a sudden heart attack on Wednesday evening was more than her body could withstand. Her son, Jace, just 17 years old, was her hero as he did CPR to keep her going until the ambulance arrived - but her beautiful heart could beat no more. There are safety nets in society to help those in need but unfortunately, the type of Medicaid disability Danielle received does not allow for any benefits to help with final expenses. Never eligible for life insurance, not able to work...the situation is very sad all the way around. That's where family and friends and even complete strangers can step up to the plate and help Jace and his sister Alijah lay their mother to rest. Any amount, no matter how large or small, is appreciated. Let's show Danielle's children the power of community - c'mon Cass County, let's show them some love.
